Breaking news ..... I found out on Friday that The Flower Bank has been selected by the Co-op as one of their local community groups for 2020/21. From this Sunday 25 November, Barnet Co-op members will be able to nominate The Flower Bank as their charity to receive a percentage from their shopping (https://www.coop.co.uk/communities/community-partnerships-fund). I’m very close to the East Barnet Co-op and have spent a fortune there over the years unaware that I was able to nominate charities. I’d be extremely grateful if you could nominate The Flower Bank it’s really quite quick to do and would make such a difference to us. A few weeks ago I was contacted by a member of the “Women in Sustainability Group” from Newcastle University’s Business School - they’d seen the BBC clip-on flower bombing and loved the work we’re doing. It’s a first for me but I’m being interviewed for a podcast which will be aired in the run-up to a global event they’re planning for December. On Monday afternoon, 2 friends Katie & Naomi, visited the shop and it was lovely to see them. We originally met on a course at Capel Manor many moons ago since then they’ve blossomed into floral magicians and have kindly offered to take over the shop on Wednesday 4 November to give me a much needed day off!! I hope everyone will be able to support them. And finally, we’re collecting warm coats for Colindale Foodbank, don’t worry there’s no deadline it’s a rolling collection so you can pop in any time.
