Little Bunches of Kindness

Last week was all about flower bombing. On “Blue Monday” (officially the world’s most depressing day) we flower bombed half the doorsteps of Sebright Road in High Barnet. On Tuesday I’d been contacted by Rachel & Pina for bunches of flowers for the elderly and isolated and by Suzanne a teacher from East Barnet School for flowers for teachers suffering with and recovering from COVID. By Wednesday and feeling guilt ridden I returned to flower bomb the other half of Sebright Road and finally on Friday we prepared a further 55 bunches for NHS staff at Barnet General. I’ve been helped all week by Kevin whose mental arithmetic has been a godsend. Next week promises to be calmer, on Thursday it’s Tu Bishvat - the new year for trees and residents from Lady Sarah Cohen House will be creating a tree from dogwood and ribbon - think Blue Peter circa 1978! Tu Bishvat or the new year for trees is a festival amongst other things that reminds people of their role as caretaker of the environment. Serendipitously this message is being re-enforced by Paula, my neighbour. I often mention her as being my great motivator but she’s created a movement called “_me_infinity” which is all about the individual changing their lifestyle to impact less on the environment and halt climate change. Have a great week. Ursula
